This month we are highlighting the Signature Sacred Six value of Compassion. Compassionate care is patient-centered. The compassionate caregiver listens to determine the real spiritual, emotional and physical needs of the resident to gain understanding in order to better serve those who need care. The compassionate listener speaks less and listens more.
Signature Jacksonville is blessed to have a team of volunteers from Trinity Baptist leading worship every Saturday. We are thankful for their faithfulness in serving and sharing their gifts with our residents and stakeholders. They also provide American Sign Language translation for the hearing impaired. Their singing and teaching brings a spiritual and emotional lift for our residents.
At Signature Healthcare we believe that caring for a person’s physical needs is important, but we also believe that it’s important to care for one’s spiritual and emotional needs. Every human being is made up of mind, body and spirit and all three of these systems affect each other. It is my hope as full-time Chaplain in the Jacksonville facility to meet each resident at their point of need and provide spiritual and emotional care that speaks to the uniqueness of each individual and helps them connect to the Divine spirit. Some relate to God best in a group experience such as a Bible study or non-denominational worship service. Other’s need a listening ear and a caring heart to meet with them one-on-one for spiritual guidance and prayer. Whatever the case, we seek to meet our residents at their point of need and walk with them through their struggles and their triumphs.
